I unlocked this to settle it.

Official Expansions are expansions that will surely be coded by the same team that is currently coding the already-in-game-characters. This is done in order to have official expansions feature the same depth and quality as in-game characters, be it in the presentation, the aestethics or the coding.

At this particular moment in time ,we have not yet agreed on any set list that we can run through to determine whenever an expansion can become official or not, and it is very likely to assume that that won't be made for a while even. I can say that, of course, the quality of the animations and sprites and the popularity of the character play a big role in this.

Unofficial Expansions are expansions that you guys must code yourself. By the time the game is finished, a guide will be released featuring step-by-step instructions on 'how to code' and possible a list of all the tools required to do so. Cleod has set up the game in such a way, that you can learn how to code by studying the guide. Everything one will need is probably present (code-wise) in the game already.

Although not gonna lie; coding is not easy.

It does not mean that the SSF2 Developement Team will not be coding Unofficial Expansions, but it depends on whenever they feel like it or not/ have the ability to code things.

Any questions?

Yes, just one:

Considering that we would have a tutorial and that we would have to code unofficial expansions, couldn't that mean that ANYTHING could be an expansion, if one has the time to make sprites and code it?

I have one:
Would we get someplace to test out our expansions when we finish coding them so we know if everything works the way it should?

I think there will be some protection up to some degree. And this forum serves as the creation portal of 'Mcleodgaming-approved expansions' be they official or not. This means that we are not associated with any expansions not created on this site, or on McLeodgaming itself.

There will most likely be a way to test expansions in-game as you code, yes.

I got one: will there be an area on McLeodgaming or this forum for us to post our finished expansions for others to download, or will we have to distribute them another way?

Also another few,

Does that mean users can just say "FUCK YOU EAT,I'M GONNA MAKE EXPANSIONS ON MY OWN AND I WILL NOT RELEASE THEM!*troll face*"

Also does that mean the purpose of the EAT will just be for picking "might be" official expansions and expansions actually are decent?

and last, after SSF2 is completed, let's say the near Back to The Future time when we all have cool shits and stuff, will the expansion itself have to pass a test to make sure it's not buggy and shit?

As it seems now*, we plan to archive each completed Official Expansion on McLeodgaming, with a link provided. Unofficial Expansions will be archived and hosted here. By you guys, for you guys.

*as in: it could change

Good question.

Like I stated before; this site will only hosts approved Expansions. This means that we can still deny expansions to made on this forum, but you can also deny this forum the expansion. You can just make them yourself outside of anything related to McLeodgaming, but then there will most likely be restrictions.

The Expansion Acception Team serves as a crew that assists the Developers into seperating the good from the bad, as well as bring up the discussion for whenever Official or not. The EAT can als request critique from me regarding spriting, or ask me to come over here whenever I need to save you guys. Of course, every member can request critique from me, would they like, but I think it's very safe to say, that I always keep my eye on the progress that the EAT make with their sprites.

Have you actually read anything?
We'll make the sprites, animations, stuff like that. They'll code it if they either feel like it, or if it's good enough.
BTW, Nice bump there.
