I've run into this problem three or four times now, in which I decide to work on a character. What usually happens is someone claims it before I do and chaos ensues. I'm wondering why can't we do the same character if everything is completely different. Example: Two Spriters want to do Don Kanoji. They both use custom sprites and nothing is ultimately the same. Why can't this happen?

Someone is doing Don Kanoji! Sweet! I know what expansion I want to get first!

I'd assume so we don't have 50 different versions of the same character running around. There are some characters with a ton of moveset potential, and it would simply be chaotic to have all of them running around. Better to leave expansion slots for other characters.

If I were you, I'd ask to work with the other person on a group expansion for that character. This way, you both can be involved, it only takes one character slot, the expansion gets done sooner, and I get to play as Don Kanoji either way. and everyone's happy.

So far the only thing this thread has taught me is that I need to develop Don Kanoji instead of just using him as an example.

Man, what a slow learner. What he means is that having the same characters, even if their moveset is completely different, being made would be a waste of time and work. We don't want to have alternate forms of characters as expansions. That's why Damian rejected Mass Attack Kirby. He's the exact same character, but with a different moveset.

I understand your reasoning even if I do not agree.

I'll use Mario as an example.

What's the point of making two expansions if one will be better than the other? If two people made Mario, one Mario has to be a little or a lot better, so why waste the other persons time?

If you want multiples, go play M.U.G.E.N. We don't need/want 40 slightly different goku's and sonic's around here.
